What Are MY Special Interests?
There's something special about coming home from a long-hard day and just writing, watching my favorite TV show, or sitting down at my piano and playing any song I want to. For me, this isn't any regular hobby. This is how I regulate. This is what is considered as my special interest.
People with autism and ADHD are known to have special interests––intense passions that bring joy, comfort, and a strong sense of identity.A special interest can be just about anything: music, deep knowledge of pop culture or celebrities, video games, TV shows, movies, books, nature—you name it.
Having ADHD and Autism, I tend to go back and forth with my special interests. It's like I bounce back and forth from one topic and go to another and educate myself on that thing.
A lot of my friends are the same way. One of my friends' special interests is Star Wars, specifically Grogu (Baby Yoda) from the Mandalorian. They have a HUGE collection of Baby Yoda stuffed animals and objects.
In 2020, I started collecting Mickey Mouse ears. I started with 3. Currently, I have 15 pairs.
