Father's Day Tribute

 

Dear Dad,

Today is Father's day!  I'm so lucky to have you in my life and blessed to have had you raise me as well as my sisters.  You are a blessing to the world and I'm the luckiest daughter ever!! Thanks for watching Love on the spectrum  with me, for singing Garth Brooks, and being there for me no matter what.

To all the dad's out there: THANK YOU!  

To all of the dad's out there who are neurodivergent: You are commended for your services.  You work harder than most.  My dad, my dad's younger brother, and my dad's dad are both neurospicy men.  I wouldn't be the spazzy and energetic woman today without them.

To all the fathers out there who are caregivers to their children who are severely neurodiverse:  Your care and support to the community are appreciated. 

Just like moms, dads come in all shapes, sizes, and forms.  Are all dads perfect?! NO!! I have friends who don't even associate with their dads.  Anyone can have a dad no matter what kind that is.  If you are neurodiverse and have a complicated relationship with your dad, there is a whole community of support behind you.

Being a Friend vs. Being Friendly: A Neurodivergent Struggle

  Have you ever met someone and thought "oh, they're being nice to me! I should be their friend, and have it not work out?"  Honestly, same.  Being autistic and neurodiverse, it can be hard to identify if I should be friends with someone or friendly.  Here's a little secret I've learned in the 27 years of my life: it is OKAY to not be friends with EVERYBODY!! --sometimes, people aren't looking to make friends or they're not interested in being friends with you and  THAT'S OKAY !!   As much as we want to be friends with everyone, this isn't possible.  Seems rude, but sometimes if we push ourselves to be friends with people, it's not going to be in our favor.   What we can do, is be NICE  to others or just be friendly to them.  This doesn't mean we're best friends.  It just means we are respectful and kind to them.   It's time for bed!  You get in your pajamas, brush your teeth, shower, and do whatever you have to do before you crawl into bed.  You get into your comfy sheets and lay your head down on your pillow to rest.
